Basic sewing supplies...

This past weekend I had a huge clear out, and re-organised my craft room :)

I wish I had done it sooner, it's made me feel so much better...

To help organise my sewing supplies, I bought myself this cute "Polkadot" sewing box, so i thought I would be fun to share with you what's in my sewing box....

  • Pins
  • Safety pins (for quilting)
  • Small scissors
  • Buttons
  • Cotton
  • Seam ripper
  • Cotton
  • Embroidery cotton
  • Pens/pencil
  • Needles for hand sewing
  • Point turner - great for pushing out corners
  • I also have some PP labels ..
I also made this cute scissor holder, by using an old pencil pot and re-covering it with some lovely fabric...

I put some wadding at the bottom, to help stop the scissors from blunting.

Another useful tip !!

I use a spray bottle , when I am ironing my fabric, to help avoid getting any lime scale on the fabrics... It is a great way to iron out stubborn creases too !!

What's on your essential sewing kit list ??

Any useful tips to share ??

I think you covered everything.  What a pretty sewing box.  I feel inspired to declutter my craft space now as well :)

What pretty organization!  Love the dotti-ness!  I never thought to put something at the bottom of my scissor can - definitely a smart idea!
